ReplyDeleteWhat do you think happened to Sohrab? "Later, they said I was still screaming when the ambulance arrived." From the context clues we know something happened to cause this sort of reaction. Could it really be super bad or do you think that maybe Amir was overreacting?

ReplyDeleteI think Sohrab tried to kill himself, since he really didn't want to go to that orphanage.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that Amir sees himself as Assef because Assef took things to the extreme. He sexually assaulted children. When Amir was asked if he'd ever tried it from Assef in Chapter 22 on page 285 Amir responded "That's disgusting"
ReplyDeleteI think that Sohrab definitely tried to commit because he'd rather die then experience what he went through
ReplyDeleteI think that maybe Sohrab tried to kill himself because he thought that he would have to go back to an orphanage.
ReplyDeleteBecause of how much Sorhrab represents Hassan, "The slingshot made a thwiiiit sound when Sohrab released the cup." Do you think that it is hard or easy for Amir to get close to him?
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir can get close to Sohrab because Amir has been missing Hassan from his part of his life and having Sohrab there can maybe help Amir seek redemption.
DeleteI think it must have been pretty bad if Amir was so upset. But like someone said in the circle he must have tried to hurt himself because he was really upset about going back to an orphanage and he might of thought that this was a good choice. So I think that's why Amir was so upset
ReplyDeleteIf Sohrad did kill himself how do you think Amir's opinion of himself and of his life would change?
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir would think that it was his fault and that he should have known that the orphange was an awful place for Sorhab. Amir would think that he shouldn't have said anything till he knew for sure.
DeleteI felt like earlier Amir wouldn't have been able to face Sohrab, but since he faced Assef, it's easier for Amir to get closer to him.
ReplyDeleteI think if Hassan never died, Amir would find him and say sorry because he grew up and knew it was wrong that he didn't do anything when he was 12.
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir's opinion of himself would change because I think that now he would always think he did something wrong to make it happen. Just like with Hassan's rape, he couldn't do anything. He did not even know what Sohrab was doing in the bathroom, except taking a bath.
ReplyDeleteAmir would have so much emotion and wouldn't really believe that Sohrad did kill himself because they were pretty close
ReplyDeleteI think that if Sohrab died, Amir wouldn't be able to forgive himself and hold another 30 year grudge against himself.
ReplyDeleteI agree with alexis with his opinion changing because of what happened with the alley.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that Soraya will fly out to Amir if Sohrab was unsuccessful in committing?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marlie. I think that because Amir values family so much, and because he has always been so reliable/close to his family, this makes him want to get close to Sorahb.
ReplyDeleteI also think Sohrab tried to kill himself because he was scared to feel the pain of what the orphanage was like. He already knew what it felt like and he didn't want to feel that again. "Suddenly I was on my knees, screaming. Screaming through my clenched teeth"
ReplyDeleteI think that there is a possibility of Soraya flying out because she is really devoted to Amir, and she really wants him and Sohrab to come to America.
ReplyDeleteI think the trust that Sohrab has for Amir now, stems from Sohrab figuring out that Amir was serious about taking him home. I think that maybe it could have stemmed from the scene in chapter 23 where Amir goes crazy looking for Sohrab and he went looking for him at the mosque.
ReplyDeleteDo you think Amir's life would have been different if Amir hadn't flee to America. I was thinking of this because a lot of events in these past chapters have been because of him Fleeing to America?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Amir would have faced his guilt as head on as he did in the later chapters. When he fled, he had time to reflect on his actions and come to terms of what he did, but if he was stuck in Afghanistan then he would probably still keep treating people badly like how he treated Hassan.
DeleteI don't think Amir would have faced his guilt as head on as he did in the later chapters. DeleteI think there is a pretty high chance of Soraya flying out because she seems to really want to be with Amir
ReplyDeleteDo you think that Amir went through culture shock? I know that Baba did, but do you think Amir did?
ReplyDeleteI do think that Amir could have lived a different life he did not flee to America. Every choice you choose in your life has an affect. Good or bad.
ReplyDeleteI think him going to America gave him a break and somewhat helped him get over what happened back in Afghanistan
ReplyDelete"'Sohrab!' I called, rising from my bed.'I have great news.'" I think that this quote shows that Amir couldn't be happier to be able to bring Sohrab to America with him. If Sohrab died I think that it would almost kill Amir, because first he learns that Hassan was killed and Rahim Khan is dying. So if Sohrab died I feel that is too much death for one person to handle in a short amount of time.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that the book had any hidden emotion's that Amir's family/friends felt when he was put in the hospital?
ReplyDeleteYes, Amir's life would have been different. I think that he wouldn't have been as lucky as he was in America because of the war that happened in Afghanistan.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think Amir would rather have left Sohrab in the children's home then him staying with him in Peshawar if he still considered that her home?
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir wouldn't prefer to leave Sohrab in a children's home, I just think that Amir was considering his life in America with Soraya and that he wouldn't want to leave her in America by herself. I also think that staying in Afghanistan would be too much for Amir because of everything from his life that had happened there, even if he has forgiven himself.
DeleteI think his life would be different because going to America made him a new start in life so if he would've stayed, then the constant reminder of what happened would be there
ReplyDeleteI feel like that Amirs perspective on the values of life and when he moved to america his values changed. I think him moving to america defiantly showed him that you should treat people equally. It helped him realize what he had done to Hassan was wrong and that he should have treated Hassan better.
ReplyDeleteI do think that the book had many emotions being hid because it did not, bring up how Amir's family felt when he was in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteDo you think Soraya will treat sohrab like a son if he survives because earlier in the book she said that she wouldn't want to adopt a child because it wasn't hers by blood. Do you think that applies here?
ReplyDeleteI think that if Soraya had been able to have a kid then she probably wouldn't have accepted Sohrab as well as she did.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that if Sohrab was successful in committing Soraya and Amir will give up on trying to get a kid?
ReplyDeleteAmir and Soraya have already been heart-set on getting Sohrab, so I don't feel like they would try again after. That would be two tries and I don't think they have the strength to deal with another heartbreak involving a child of theirs.
DeleteIf anything this might make them want to try more because they might want to be able to raise a child from when its born instead of halfway through childhood they might have more inspiration to have a child of their own
DeleteI definitely think that Amir and Soraya will still want to adopt a child if by chance they lose Sohrab. I think thy will probably wait a while to get over that loss.
Delete"But Baba was long dead, buried in the Afghan section of a little cemetery in Hayward... I was on my own." How do you think Baba's passing has influenced Amir's actions, do you think it has?
ReplyDeleteI do think that Amir and Shoraya not being able to have kids was foreshadowing to Sohrab. Especially when the book talks about how they didn't want to adopt because the kid wouldn't be blood and Sohrab is blood.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that id Hassan was still alive do you think that Amir would have tried to convince Hassan to move to America with his family?
ReplyDeleteDo you think that the adoption of Soharb is the final thing Amir needs to redeem himself? Do you think Ammir would ever confront Hassan if he was still alive?
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir will always have that guilt, even if Hassan was still alive. I think that he would be able to forgive himself more if he knew that Hassan had forgiven him, but there's always going to be that little bit of guilt and things that Amir wanted to change.
ReplyDeleteYes Jerrica I do think that if Hassan was alive then Amir would try to convince him to move to America because they were best friends, brother's. They loved each other and wanted to be together.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he would confront him because he wouldn't want to bring back the incident but he will always have that guilt built inside of him.
ReplyDeleteDo you think Amir is adopting Soharb to feel better about what he did? To redeem himself?
ReplyDeleteno, I think that in the beginning of Amir and Sohrab meeting maybe he was helping Sohrab get to a safer place to feel better about himself and redeem himself, but I think that maybe Amir developed "family" feelings for Sohrab and wanted to take him home with him.

ReplyDeleteOverall at the end of the book, I believe that Amir will be able to continue his life not in regret of all of the things that has happened. The beginning of the book is way different from where we are now so things will change.
ReplyDeleteAmir would defiantly have guilt, but I'm not sure he would confront Hassan. I feel like Amir thinks that this adoption will help him be forgiven but I also think that its not enough. I feel that Amir isn't going to forgive himself because of how long it has been if he still hasn't.
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir truly loved Sohrab, but yes I do think that he was trying to feel better about what he did now that he knew Hassan was gone forever.
ReplyDeleteIf you were Amir what would you do differently other than the obvious telling someone what happened to Hassan what action would you change?
ReplyDeleteI think that Amir is adopting Sohrab to seek redemption, but also to give him a good life and make sure he is treated well. I think Amir has still not 100% forgiven himself so he wants to raise Sohrab to make up for how he treated Hassan in the past.
